Ashba’s mother, a concert pianist, brought him up in Fairbury, Illinois. She largely facilitated Ashba’s early musical education. At age 18, his interest in music blossomed, and he decided to come to Hollywood and try to make it on his own. He quickly became a member of the band Barracuda and spent the next two years on the road with them. The following year, 1998, he joined the BulletBoys despite the success of his first solo album, “Addiction to the Friction,” published in 1996. Here is when he met Joe Lesté, who would later become a founding member of his 1999 band. Beautiful Creatures are a recently established band consisting of three individuals who have signed with Warner Bros. Records to release an album of the same name, produced by Marilyn Manson.
Even though Ashba’s wealth was rising quickly, he quit the band in 2002 to focus on his solo career, forming a new “band” under the name A.S.H.B.A. Ashba collaborated with Nikki Sixx and James Michael to create the album “The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack,” which was released in August 2007 to widespread acclaim under the moniker “Sixx: A.M.” The album’s lead single, “Life is Beautiful,” peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
Ashba replaced Slash as Guns N’ Roses’ lead guitarist in March 2009. After nearly six years on the road with the band, he announced his departure to focus on his family and his other band, Sixx: A.M. Ashba co-wrote 11 of the album’s 13 tracks for Mötley Crüe’s 2008 release, “Saints of Los Angeles,” which he also co-produced. The same year, a Grammy nomination for the album’s title tune was announced.
In addition to his musical career, Ashba is the C.E.O. of two companies: Ashba Media, Inc. and Ashbaland, Inc. Ashba is in charge of Virgin Entertainment’s Megastore, which the first agency manages. Ashba Swag was also released, a line of apparel and other goods he designed. Ashba Swag’s bespoke Stage Apparel results from his tight collaboration with Cody Verona, C.E.O. of Congregation of the Forgotten Saints.
He married Colombian model Nathalia Henao, whom he met in Rome while on tour with “Guns N’ Roses,” in August 2013. The couple, now known as Ashba and Tanked, featured on the popular T.V. show.
