On July 21, 1978, in Kingston, Jamaica, a boy named Damian Marley “Jr. Gong” Marley entered the world. He’s a reggae legend in Jamaica, famed for his music and for being the son of the late great Bob Marley. Junior Gong was given to him because of the similarity between it and his father’s name, Tuff Gong.

At age 13, Marley established a community he dubbed the Shepards. He organized a band influenced by Indian music and recorded a few tracks with Mick Jagger, lead singer of The Rolling Stones, and Dave Stewart, a band member. Even more surprisingly, Damian has collaborated with Skrillex, a prominent figure in the electronic music scene.
